A Report Writing Workshop

for Humane Law Enforcement

This 2-hour interactive course will provide guidance on report writing techniques in  cases of animal abuse. Effective report writing is vital to ensuring a successful investigation and prosecution. This course is intended to strengthen report writing skills for all agents and officers regardless of their experience level. Participants will see real examples of well-written reports and will have the opportunity to see how an effective report is written through scenario-based training. This course is intended only for humane society agents, municipal or township animal control officers, dog wardens, police officers, or sheriffs. DanaMarie Pannella, attorney in the firm of Holland & Muirden and appointed prosecutor for animal cruelty cases in many courts across Ohio, will discuss these topics:

    • The basics of preparing a well-written report
    • How to gather and structure information for your report
    • Analyzing information for reliability, validity, and relevance
    • Improving narrative writing skills
    • Drafting, editing, and presenting a final report

    REGISTRATION FEE

    • $25 per organization for Ohio Fedmembers with 1-5 program participants 

    • $35 per organization for Ohio Fedmembers with 6-10 program participants 

    • $45 per organization for Ohio Fedmembers with 11+ program participants 

    • $50 per organization for non-members
