About Us

OUR MISSION

We are a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the promotion of humane principles through knowledge. Our purpose is:

• To prevent cruelty to animals by coordinating and enlarging the activities of private, nonprofit, 501(c)3 animal welfare organizations incorporated in Ohio and county, municipal, and local animal agencies;   

• To share information with the administrative and legislative branches of the state, county, and local governments about the humane treatment of animals and their value to humans; 

• To provide effective means for the propagation and dissemination of training, resources and information on humane principles that will enhance the welfare of animals in the State of Ohio; and 

• To encourage cooperative, supportive, and collaborative relationships among humane societies, animal control facilities, and other animal welfare organizations. 

MEMBER AGREEMENT

Members of the Ohio Animal Welfare Federation affirm that their organization: 

Supports the Ohio Animal Welfare Federation’s mission and goals; 

Complies with applicable laws, rules and ordinances; 

Commits to making the Ohio Animal Welfare Federation a positive force in the animal welfare community by focusing on the common ground, shared goals and points of agreement among other member organizations; 

Conducts our daily business with the utmost degree of professionalism and civility; and

Commits to these shared values: 

• Education: We are responsible for continuously seeking and sharing knowledge and resources. 
• Collaboration: We believe working together increases our collective achievements for animals and our communities. 
• Integrity: We hold ourselves accountable to our partners and community through transparency. 
• Quality of Life: We are committed to the health and safety of pets and people in our communities, and to the Five Freedoms: freedom from hunger or thirst; freedom from discomfort; freedom from pain, injury or disease; freedom to express normal behaviors; and freedom from fear and distress.
