2024 Ohio Fed Leadership Summit

Presented by the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust

Friday, May 10, 2024

8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

@ Deer Creek Lodge & Conference Center, Mt. Sterling, OH

Registration Deadline: Thursday, April 24, 2024

The goal of the Ohio Fed Leadership Summit is to create an opportunity for leaders in animal welfare in Ohio to come together and talk about what is happening in their communities, discuss ways they are currently addressing community needs, share ideas, and, hopefully, lay the groundwork for future collaborations.

This special, one-day event will be structured with three blocks of time for breakout sessions and share-outs (see agenda below). Each breakout session will offer attendees a choice of three different topics chosen from topics submitted by the registrants in advance. The sessions will be a free-flowing exchange of ideas where you can safely share your thoughts and ask questions among supportive colleagues.

Come prepared with things your organization has tried and questions you have for colleagues. These conversations will be led by the attendees—our moderators will be there only to ensure everyone can share and to help keep the conversations going. The key points of each breakout session will be captured and shared with all attendees.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is:

  • Limited to 50 attendees from Ohio Fed Member Organizations (non-members: see below about our wait list)

  • Open to leaders who hold positions within the top two levels of their organization

  • Limited to no more than two people per organization

  • $99 per person, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch and refreshment break

DISCUSSION TOPICS

The Leadership Summit is geared towards the top leaders of animal welfare organizations in Ohio and it’s these folks who will drive the summit’s content. Attendees will be asked to submit topics they wish to discuss with fellow colleagues and the top nine topics will be selected. Submit your topics on the registration form, or later by using the survey link in your confirmation email. Topics will be sent in advance of the summit so you can prepare for the discussion.

So far suggested topics include access to vet care; staff & staffing issues (recruitment & retention/stress & burnout); humane investigations concerns; adoptions & foster issues (addressing barriers/increasing fosters); collaborations & mentoring (community/rescues & shelters); behavior (behavioral euthanasia & difficult to place dogs); transport; messaging (safety net programming/meeting community needs); fundraising financial stability.
